Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is a big managed care provider carrying
a Blue Cross Blue Shield license in nine states. They are part of
the Wellpoint family of health care providers, a massive health

United States. When the two merged in 2004, Anthem in fact changed
their name to Wellpoint Inc. However, their Blue Cross Blue Shield

care insurance plans to meet individual and family requirements.
Blue Traditional: It is a fee for service plan that allows members
to visit the physician, specialist, and hospital of their choice.
As a member of this plan, you will be required to pay deductibles
and coinsurance.
Blue Short-Term: If you are a student, or between jobs and find
yourself in urgent need of a short term insurance plan for one to
six months, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio offers you this
Blue Short-Term plan so that you do not need to spend sleepless
nights worrying about illnesses or accidents during this “in
between†time.
Blue Access and Blue Access Economy: These plans offer PPO, or Preferred
Provider Organization, benefits with several different levels of
deductibles for you to choose from. As members of these plans, you
have the freedom to choose any doctor, specialist, or hospital within
the organization without having to get a referral.
Blue Access Value: It is a PPO plan that provides a lower premium
by offering members the same in-patient hospital advantages of their
other PPO policies while limiting outpatient benefits. This plan
especially suits those persons who would prefer lower health care
premiums while having the ability to protect themselves and their
families from catastrophic illnesses.
Blue Access Saver (HSA): If you are a member of this plan, you get
the benefits of PPOs and tax savings at the same time through the
use of a high-deductible PPO with a Health Savings Account. You
will, however, have to contribute pre-tax dollars to a special account
from which they will pay their medical bills.
With its TonikSM health plans, aimed especially at the young and
healthy, you receive preventive, emergency, prescription, dental,
and vision coverage.
Anthem BCBS also provides Medigap coverage for Medicare beneficiaries.
Its Medicare Supplement Plans provide government-prescribed Basic
Benefits. Contracted with Medicare, Blue MedicareRxSM Prescription
Drug Coverage provides a batch of three new Medicare Prescription
Drug Plans (Part D), suiting different needs and budgets.
