Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
of Colorado
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is a large managed care provider
that caters to the health insurance needs of about 11 million people.
It carries a Blue Cross Blue Shield license in nine states, namely
Indiana, Kentucky. Ohio, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Colorado, Nevada,
Maine and Virginia. They are part of the Wellpoint family of health
care providers that provides health insurance coverage to 28 million
Americans. When they merged in 2004, Anthem in fact changed their
name to Wellpoint Inc. Their Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate operations,
however, still prefer to use the Anthem name, as does the corporate
web site. Anthem is the fifth largest publicly traded health business
company in the United States. While some of these networks span
the entire state, some others focus on metro areas and extend into
the outlying portions of those states with indemnity insurance programs.
With the help of these programs, one can have access to any physician,
or through affiliations with other regional managed care providers.
The company also has four subsidiaries in related businesses. Anthem
believes that the quality of health coverage can actually help people
stay healthy.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado provides health coverage
to over 450,000 members. The company is aware of the requirements
of the local people if they want to stay healthy. One is a healthy
respect for the slopes while the other is the flexibility to select
the right health insurance to suit their individual requirements.
It offers Colorado residents a wide choice of health insurance plans,
in addition to an option to enroll in dental and life insurance
as well. The company also boasts a positive credit rating from the
four largest carrier ratings companies. Anthem BCBS of Colorado
has received A, AA-, A1 and A+ ratings from A M Best, Fitch, Moody’s
and Standard & Poor’s respectively.
