Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
of New Hampshire
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Hampshire offers local
residents a number of quality health plans. Serving nearly 28 million
people after merger with the Wellpoint family of health care providers
in 2004, Anthem is the Blue Cross and Blue Shield licensee for Indiana,
Kentucky, Ohio, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Colorado, Nevada, Maine
and Virginia (excluding the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington,
DC). Anthem boasts of a wide variety of managed care products, including
preferred provider organizations (PPOs), health maintenance organizations
(HMOs), and point of service (POS) plans, as well as traditional
indemnity products. In addition to the above mentioned BCBS health
plans in its nine states, Anthem also has other subsidiaries that
offer a full line of complementary services, including vision, dental
and behavioral health. Although Anthem in fact changed their name
to Wellpoint Inc after the merger, their Blue Cross Blue Shield
affiliate operations, however, still prefer to use the Anthem name,
as does the corporate web site.
Anthem BCBS New Hampshire offers a number of health coverage options
that include:
Anthem Individual BlueDirect: Apart from providing coverage for
serious illnesses and accidents, this plan also offers benefits
for preventive care, prescription drugs and optional maternity care.
Blue Direct from Anthem BCBS is considered a comprehensive coverage
for every member of the family.
Anthem ByDesign® Health Savings Account (HSA): It is
a great plan for funding affordable health benefits. Like an IRA
or 401(k), the employee owns the HSA and it stays with the employee
in case there is a job change. The account is built with pre-tax
dollars.
BlueChoice® New England: It is an HMO that offers primary
providers in several states for employers that have employees scattered
across New England
HMO Blue® New England: This plan is the primary HMO offered
by Anthem.
BlueChoice® Two-Tier: It is a Point of Service (POS)
program with fixed co-pays for in-network physicians and the ability
to self-refer
Preferred Blue®: Preferred Blue is the PPO plan of Anthem.
BlueChoice® Three-Tier: Blue Choice Three Tier is a POS
program that offers three care options for the member.
Indemnity (Comprehensive): Indemnity is a traditional care plan
with which the member can freely choose his providers.
In addition to the plans described above, the company also offers
a federal employee program. As people look for different features
in a Medicare supplemental plan, Anthem BCBS offers a choice of
seven different Medicomp plans to meet almost any need. The presence
of these options makes it easier to for you to choose the coverage
that will suit you best. Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire
also offers a short term or temporary health benefit program for
individuals and families. The company has contracted with Medicare
to provide three new Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, each of them
designed to fit different needs and budgets. Its Blue MedicareRx
has proved trustworthy for many people. The company has dental and
vision plans as well.
