Blue Cross and Blue Shield
of Wyoming
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming (BCBSWY) began its journey in
the 1940s as two separate pre-paid health care plans for hospital
and physician services. In 1976, the two companies merged with each
other and adopted the name Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming. The
company at present serves more than 100,000 residents of Wyoming.
BCBSWY employs over 200 people across the state, contributing to
each and every community in which it has a presence. It actively
takes part in community activities benefiting charities, community
service organizations and individuals as well. The company organized
the Caring Foundation of Wyoming in 1990 to provide basic health
care services to uninsured children. This nonprofit corporation
has given a healthy start in life for over 2,500 children since
its inception.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming offers a number of attractive
health plans for individuals, families and groups. Some of these
plans are:
BlueChoice Personal: It offers families and individuals (ages two
and above) a range of deductible and coinsurance options designed
to best suit their requirements. All these options cover prescription
drug through RxCare WyomingT, Adult Preventive Care, the best provider
networks within the state of Wyoming and BlueCard®, the
national Blue Cross Blue Shield network that provides access to
health care professionals throughout the United States and in many
foreign countries. Two Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible high
deductible plans are also available.
BlueChoice Business: It is a comprehensive health insurance plan
that provides flexible coverage to meet the specific needs of the
people behind your business. BlueChoice Business offers a number
of choices of benefit options, along with optional dental and vision
coverage. In addition, the plan provides a choice of prescription
drug coverage through the RxCare Wyomingâ„¢ program.
You can also have complementary products such as life and disability
insurance to include in your employee benefits portfolio.
Wyoming Choice: If you do business in Laramie County, Wyoming Choice
will offer you excellent managed care features and cost controls
that includes an extensive provider network. This product combines
traditional health coverage plans with the cost-savings of a Preferred
Provider Organization (PPO). The program includes the company’s
RxCare Wyomingâ„¢ prescription drug coverage, life
insurance coverage and automatic claims filing. Wyoming Choice should
prove to be a great substitute for more restrictive HMOs and other
managed care products.
Senior Blue®: Blue Cross Blue Shield Wyoming’s
Medicare Supplement Plans offer various levels of benefits as defined
by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The company
offers competitive premium rates and easy claims processing. Wyoming
physicians who file Medicare claims can automatically forward them
to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming for processing, which saves
members time, effort and money.
MedicareBlue Solutions: These are comprehensive drug and health
coverage for people with Medicare. The company offers three types
of Medicare plans that strengthens your Medicare coverage: Medicare
Supplement Plans, MedicareBlue PPO and MedicareBlue Rx. While Medicare
Supplement Plans help pay for some of the health care costs or “gapsâ€
