Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States operates in the vicinity of Washington, D.C. where health care policy and legislation are introduced, debated, and decided. In 2003, Kaiser Permanente opened new outpatient medical centers in Germantown and Annapolis, MD., and in Chantilly, VA. At present, it operates a total of 28 medical centers, serving nearly 500,000 members in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
