Founded in 1942 as Intermountain Hospital Plan, Regence Blue Cross
Blue Shield of Utah now boasts of over 400,000 members. Having offices
in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo, the company has 3,950 physicians
and providers in its networks. It has two subsidiaries: Regence
ValueCare (PPO) and Regence HealthWise (HMO). The companyâ€™s
service area covers the entire state of Utah with its Traditional
and Regence ValueCare networks. The Regence HealthWise service area
consists of the Wasatch Front. Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of
Utah is the biggest insurer in the state with more than 850 employees
and almost 410,000 claims per month.
Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah offers several excellent
health plans to customers that include:
Traditional Network BlueBasic: These plans offer you a choice of
deductible levels. This network plan includes all hospitals in Utah
and over 4,300 doctors. You do not require a referral for working
with any health care provider in the network. There are maximum
out-of-pocket levels for each deductible option. These plans cover
maternity, prescription drugs, hospitalization, and office visits.
Traditional Network BlueAdvantage: These plans offer you a lot to
choose from as far as deductibles are concerned. As with corresponding
Traditional Network BlueBasic plans, these plans offer you a large
choice of healthcare providers from which to choose without having
to worry about referrals. Traditional Network BlueAdvantage plan
members have lower out-of-pocket maximums than those in corresponding
BlueBasic plans. These plans cover hospitalization, office visits,
preventative services, maternity, prescription drugs, and more.
ValueCare BlueBasic: Under these plans, you will have access to
a large selection of hospitals and more than 4,000 doctors in the
state of Utah. With these too, you will be able to consult healthcare
providers without needing a referral. ValueCare Blue Basic plans
offer a number of deductible options and cover hospitalization,
maternity, prescription drugs, office visits, and more. ValueCare
BlueBasic plans have lower rates than Traditional Network BlueBasic
ValueCare BlueAdvantage: These plans offer you similar type of services
as the Traditional Network BlueAdvantage plans. With a smaller network
of participating hospitals and healthcare providers than those available
with Traditional Network BlueAdvantage plans, ValueCare Blue Advantage
plans offer you a cheaper alternative.
If you opt for Regence Health Savings Account, it will enable you
to use pre-tax dollars to pay qualified medical expenses. This can
result in you saving money on taxes. Along with high deductible
plans, Regence HSA members can closely control their healthcare
costs with premiums at affordable rates.
Regence BlueSelect Medicare Supplement Plans: Regence HealthWise
offers BlueSelect plans C and F as the two Medicare Select polices.
These plans give you the advantage of a lower premium rate when
compared to the premium rates for plans C and F offered under the
companyâ€™s regular Medicare Supplement plans.
Regence Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Utah also offers short term
medical coverage for 30 to 185 days for people who are between jobs,
or students or those waiting for ghroup coverage to begin etc.
